EngineeredIQ’s Position
EngineeredIQ is a software provider. EngineeredIQ does not hold an engineering licence or professional registration in any jurisdiction, does not provide engineering advice and does not issue certified deliverables. EngineeredIQ’s liability is limited to the operation of the software platform as described in the Terms of Service.
Engineer’s Position
The engineer who uses ScaffIQ remains the issuing professional for all tag structures, AOI instances and compiled L5X files generated using the platform. The engineer’s professional indemnity insurance covers their professional activities, including the review and approval of scaffolding compiled with ScaffIQ.
Recommendation: Notify your professional indemnity insurer that you use compilation tools for tag and AOI scaffolding. Most modern PI policies accommodate this provided the professional retains review and approval responsibility at every checkpoint, and continues to write all sequence and rung logic directly.
Reducing Your Exposure
- Never skip a checkpoint. IO Mapping, AOI Mapping and Output Review each exist to catch a specific class of error
- Verify AOI selections. Confirm the suggested AOI actually matches the physical device before compiling
- Verify compiled output. Check tag names, addresses and AOI instances against site conditions before deployment
- Write your own logic. ScaffIQ never generates rung or sequence logic, that responsibility stays with you
- Keep the disclaimer. Do not remove the AI disclaimer from compiled files
- Maintain records. Keep copies of all Projects and files you compile
Regulatory Compliance
Engineering licensing, registration and compliance requirements vary by jurisdiction and discipline. It is the engineer’s responsibility to ensure that their use of ScaffIQ complies with the regulatory requirements of their jurisdiction, including any requirements regarding the form and content of control system documentation.
